Mobile working

You don’t need to be chained to a desk anymore to make money. With the technology we have today we can telework from anywhere in the world by using a pda, wireless laptop, blackberry or mobile. I am writing and updating this post on my blackberry to prove just that.

There are other technical advances that allow us to run a business whilst we are on the move.

For example:

* VOIP (voice over ip) – this allows us to have several real business phone numbers scattered around the world that allow clients to reach us transparently from anywhere without incurring international costs. The clients would not be aware that they are being routed to someone on the other side of the world. Each number can then be diverted to a hunt group that calls our real office number, home number, mobile, msn account, skype account, googletalk account etc etc. You can go and setup virtual numbers at http://www.didww.com . I recommend them as I have several numbers with them already. As well as this you will need a voip sip provider such as http://www.internetcalls.com . These allow you to either install a phone client on your pc or you can purchase voip phones instead. For example using my wireless voip phone I can sit in a wireless internet beach cafe in the med and receive calls from all over the world for free while clients are just paying local rate phone calls. Very clever.

* Virtual pc – There are many companies that allow you to connect to your home or office pc from anywhere in the world. You can access your pc as if you were sitting in front of it. One of these services for example is http://www.gotomypc.com.

* Blackberry – with a blackberry mobile phone you can send and receive emails wherever you are in the world. You can also surf the web, connect to your websites via ftp or http to update them and also log on to instant messenger such as msn messenger and yahoo messenger.

All in all we should never think we must be restricted to a desk in order to generate an income. Think outside the box.
