Save money when shopping abroad

Did you know that the majority of us tend to use our standard debit and credit cards when we are shopping abroad?. The banks love us for this as they introduce stealth charges whenever our credit and debit cards are used outside of the UK. There are also often charges of up to 2.5% added to every single purchase and the exchange rates that are used are never the best on the market.

There is however a solution to this by investing in a prepaid FairFX currency card, a prepaid mastercard loaded with Euros for those trips to Europe or U.S dollars for a foreigner visiting the U.S.

Take Advantage of the Credit Crunch

Are you running your own business? If so, why not take advantage of the credit crunch?

A credit crunch is a perfect opportunity to increase your sales and cashflow. Hopefully by now you have grown a large client base so you can utilise this to bring in further trade.

You can do this by

  1. Introducing a special promotion or time limited discount on your products or services. For example you could have a 20% off sale for one day and promote this to your clients. Clients are unlikely to risk purchasing services from a new business in difficult times. They are likely to stick with their trusted vendors.

Amazon Discount Finder - reduce your xmas shopping expenses

I happened to come across a new tool today that allows you to search for Amazon discounts filtering by various categories then looking for a particular discount size. For example some books may be discounted by 80% on a particular day. This could be invaluable for Christmas shopping. The site works on the American, British, Canadian, German and French Amazon sites. Check this tool out below.

Why not order some of your Christmas shopping items online beating the queues, keeping warm while saving money at the same time.

Millionaire Blogs Sunday share tips

Today Id like to point out that when there is a global crisis the common reaction for the average investor is to sell. It is better to fight this way of thinking at a time where shares are trading way below their true value.

I would suggest that in times like these that you focus on solid companies with low levels of debt that perform well over a recession. To start you off Id like to give you 2 stock tips for November 2008.

Lock down your spending

Since I figured out how to blackberry blog it means I can blog from anywhere. The
beach, the coffee shop, the sofa etc etc. It allows you to step away from the office
and take in the scenery and get some fresh air while you write. It made me think
about pay as you go entertainment versus contract entertainment.

When I say pay as you go it can mean a one off trip to the cinema or down to a
public gym or maybe out to a local dvd shop to rent a movie.

Ten tips for reducing and clearing debt

Reduce Debt

When you are in debt you need to first look at the interest rates that you are paying back on the debt to figure out which debts to pay off first. Remember that you must first make sure you pay your essential living expenses such as your mortgage, food, council tax and utility bills.

Generally I would pay off debts in this order (naturally, after you have paid your living costs)
